J. Peter Bercovitz, Ph.D. (New College, University of Edinburgh), was Professor
of Religion at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon, WV. With sadness, the
administrators of this Web site report his death, on November 21, 2005.
The material on this site was developed and tried out over the years
with college students, with learned societies (the Society of Biblical
Literature and its regional unit, the Eastern Great Lakes Biblical Society), and
with study groups for the non-specialist.
While the author based his work on sound scholarship, he also believed that
the results of his research could be made accessible to the general reader,
especially to those who are open to a fresh perspective on the apostle Paul, and
one which is free from stereotyping.
